Privacy and security

Private by default. Shared when you say so.

What Kunobi keeps for you lives in files on your own machine. It carries only the pieces you choose to the people you choose. Everything else stays with you.

What crosses

Only what you choose becomes shared work.

You keep your AI and your private things. Kunobi carries the pieces you pick into a shared workspace that their AI can build on too. Everything else stays on your side.

You and your friend each keep your own AI. The station limit, the budget, the clinic and the moving date go into a shared workspace; payslips, personal chats, savings and work email stay private.

Where it lives

On your machine, in files you can open.

What Kunobi keeps for you is a set of ordinary files on your own computer. You can open, read, copy, move and delete them with any tool you already have. They are not in an account of ours, not in our database and not on a server we run. We do not have them, and we cannot read them.

Plain files also mean you are never locked in: they work with any AI, and they keep working if you stop using Kunobi.

How it travels

From your machine straight to theirs.

When you share something, Kunobi sends exactly what you picked, to the people you picked, when you say so. It travels peer to peer, from your machine to theirs, not through a server of ours that keeps a copy.

Nothing is shared by default. Sync and backup are optional, and come with their own access settings.

What leaves your machine

Four things, and each one is something you did.

  1. What you ask your AI

Your AI reads what you give it access to, under your own account with its provider. That goes to the provider, never to us.

  2. What you choose to share

Exactly what you selected, to whoever you selected, when you say so.

  3. Update checks

The app asks whether a newer version exists. The request carries the version and the platform, never your files.

  4. Agent payments, if you turn them on

Payment details go to the payment provider, and we never store card numbers. We keep a record of what was spent, so you can see your receipts and your limits hold.

What we never do

  • No telemetry by default. The app does not report what you do with it, or what is in your files.
  • No reading your files. Not for training, not for support, not for anything.
  • No advertising, and no selling or renting anything about you.
  • No profiling, and no automated decisions about you.

What stays in your hands

  • Choose, piece by piece, what crosses and who it goes to.
  • Disconnect any AI at any time. It stops reading from then on, though it keeps what it already received.
  • Delete anything by deleting the files.

Your part, and ours

Your files are as safe as the computer they sit on. Disk encryption, a screen lock and who else uses your computer matter more here than anything we do.

Our part is that the app never sends your files anywhere you did not ask it to. If you ever find a case where it does, that is a security problem, and we want to hear about it: hello@kunobi.com

Kunobi is made by Zondax AG in Zug, Switzerland. Swiss data protection law and the GDPR both apply, and where they differ, we apply whichever gives you more.
